We are very proud of our school library at Lyons Hall Primary School. Recently refurbished with its bright new seating and colourful carpet, we now have a lovely quiet reading area for the children to enjoy. Our library also has a spacious working area along with 6 computers offering internet access and in-house learning programmes.

There is a fantastic range of books suitable for all ages across the school, from Early Years through to Year 6. All of our books are clearly labelled and sorted into sections, making finding a book very easy for the children.

With librarians ensuring the shelves are kept in order daily our budding bookworms should have no problem getting a book of their choice.

From picture books to share, short and long stories, folk and fairy tales and poetry books, our children have plenty of choice. We also have an entensive range of non-fiction books which are shelved and coded with the Dewey Classification System.

THE LIBRARIANS
Have you heard about the librarians? If not what we basically do is tidy up the library and make it nice, neat and comfy for people to be in.

We have done an assembly recently, the basic points that we stated were: the rules of the library, the new furniture and books that we have and the poem that we have up in the library.

Here is the poem:
The more you read, The more you know,
The more you know,The smarter you grow,
The smarter you grow, The stronger your voice,
When speaking your mind or making a choice

We have some popular children’s authors such as:

  • Jacqueline Wilson
  • Jeremy Strong
  • Enid Blyton
  • J.K. Rowling
  • Charles Dickens
  • Robert Swindells
  • Dick King-Smith
  • Adam Coleman

Our library is a brilliant place to calm down, take a break and focus on reading a book.
